- Texturing is achieved with tiny grinders and burning pens.

- Leaves are not bent, rather each twist and curl is carved.

- Structural necessities are metal. Bird feet are sculpted epoxy over metal armatures.

- After sealing with lacquer, cumulative washes of transparent acrylic paint create the desired depth of soft colors.

Care of your woodcarvings

Carvings are made to be visually appreciated only and can not withstand physical stress or handling. Just as an oil painting should not be rubbed - neither should a woodcarving.

Sunlight will fade and dehydrate any art, especially in a glass dome, therefore art pieces should not be displayed in direct sunlight.

Dust is unavoidable. Woodcarvings can be cleaned with a soft, dry brush. Hold the area of the carving to be cleaned and gently brush in one direction, following the texture. If dry brushing is inadequate simply dampen the brush with clean water. Furniture polish will ruin the finish.

After sealing with lacquer my carvings are colored with acrylic paint, which is very durable. Occasional cleaning will help insure they last forever.

Delivery

All packaging is done by me and great care is taken to insure safe delivery. Packages are always insured and sent by USPS or Fed-Ex. Preferably, fragile compositions are hand delivered - we will work it out.
